About Greg Crump, CPA, Director

Greg is a senior partner in the firm’s general services area and provides tax and consulting services to Horty clients in the construction and real estate industries. Greg’s extensive consulting experience assists clients in areas of litigation support, fraud detection and prevention and forensic accounting.

Greg is often called upon to bring his mix of accounting, tax and 24 years’ experience to facilitate the sale and purchase of a business. Acting as an intermediary, who is able to secure the sale of a business for both the buyer and seller, he provides a perspective that others may not have.

Greg is active in various charitable organizations throughout the Tri-State area and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Delaware State Society of Accountants (DSCPA), and National Homebuilders Association (NHA).

About John Fay, CPA, Director

As Tax Director, John’s proficiency with tax-related subject matter allows him to serve a wide range of clients in varying industries. His expertise with traditional accounting services and tax planning and compliance ensures that Horty clients receive the highest quality in tax service. Additionally, John counsels and guides clients through mergers and acquisitions, 1031 exchanges and business succession planning. John has authored numerous articles for publication and addition to the firm’s article library.

John is a member Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), Wilmington West Rotary Club Member, and he’s a member of the audit committee for the Luther House Inc. and St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Unionville, Pennsylvania.

About Brian Stratton, CPA, Director

At Horty & Horty, P.A., Brian serves as a Director. Brian’s experience with tax planning and strategy make him a key resource for numerous client matters. Assisting clients from many different industries, Brian offers direction on planning a tax strategy as well as, tax return review services. For the firm, he provides tax research and regular updates on new or updated tax laws, rules, credits, and all items related to tax. Brian is editor of the firm’s electronic newsletter, in addition to being a frequent contributor.

Brian is a member of the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

About Mike Easton, CPA, Director

As a Director with Horty & Horty, P.A., Mike serves clients in many industries, including gaming, construction, not-for-profit, real estate development and governmental industries with traditional accounting and auditing issues. Additionally, Mike assists with consulting projects where forensics, mergers and acquisitions and litigation support are needed. Mike plays an active role in the firm’s business development efforts, and regularly attends events hosted by the Homebuilders Association of Delaware, Positive Growth Alliance, First State Manufactured Housing Association, Delaware Contractors Association, and various other mid-lower Delaware associations.

Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA).

About Tom Gilligan, CPA, Director

As a senior member of the Horty & Horty, P.A. team, Tom’s extensive knowledge is beneficial to a variety of clients and industries, including financial services, construction, manufacturing, auto dealership and legal. While providing clients with his expertise with mergers and acquisitions, high-level tax planning, and financial statements, Tom also consults with and guides Horty clients through bonding issues, bank negotiations, due diligence projects and succession planning. As Vice President of the firm, Tom oversees the operations of the firm’s in-house accounting department.

Tom is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). Tom is an active member of the community and an avid supporter of local charitable organizations.

About Mike Malchione, CPA, Director

As a Director with Horty & Horty, P.A., Mike serves clients with his expansive knowledge in traditional audit and accounting services, tax planning and consulting and advisory services. In addition to Horty’s construction industry clients, Mike’s expertise extends to clients in real estate development, manufacturing, professional services industries and governmental entities. Mike is actively involved in networking and business development for the firm. He attends various local events, including many hosted by Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), Delaware Contractor’s Association (DCA), and State Chambers.

Mike is an active member of the community and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), Delaware Society of CPAs (DSCPA), Caesar Rodney Rotary Club, and Columbus Day Communion Breakfast Committee.

About Andy Patterson, CPA, CVA, Director

As a Director with Horty & Horty, P.A., Andy serves clients in a number of industries, including construction, industrial manufacturing and distribution. His broad knowledge provides him the opportunity to serve Horty clients in a number of capacities, such as traditional audit and accounting services, tax planning, structuring transactions to minimize tax obligations and improve creditworthiness and succession planning of business owners.

As the firm’s lead Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), this elite certification allows Andy to consult with and counsel clients using his expertise in business valuation, financial forensics, and internal control studies.

Andy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). He is an active member in the community, and serves as a Board member for Chester County Disability Services, Inc. (an organization that encourages the independence of mentally and physically disabled people in the community).

About Doug Phillips, CPA, President & Managing Director

Doug serves Horty & Horty, P.A. clients in many industries, including gaming, not-for-profits, financial services, construction and real estate development. In addition to providing consulting and business advisory services to clients on a variety of matters, Doug coordinates and supervises tax planning and compliance engagements, as well as, audit and accounting engagements for the firm’s clients. Additionally, Doug serves as Managing Director of Horty and is actively involved in building business relationships, overseeing the firm’s marketing initiatives and authoring numerous articles for publication and addition to the firm’s article library.

Doug is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and American College of Forensic Examiners. His current Board responsibilities are with the United Way of Delaware and the Audit Committee of the First State Community Loan Fund. Doug formerly sat on the Board for the Delaware State Board of Accountancy.
